Come check it out! It’s no secret that downtown Revelstoke will be pumping with community activities and music workshops throughout the weekend with lots to do, see and hear. But we’re also bringing together a bunch of adventure sport related enterprises at our Adventure Market to showcase their products and services, giving you ample opportunity to discover your next great outdoor passion. Here, you’ll also have access to vital information about such topics as avalanche awareness and back country safety, and the opportunity to attend an informal indoor presentation by internationally recognized guest speakers whose topics range from extreme mountain sports to the environment and our social responsibility to the planet. Who wants to miss that?!

The Adventure Market will be located along McKenzie Ave from Victoria Rd to 2nd Street with adventure sport operators and gear providers lining both sides of the street. You’ll also find local, organic and healthy foods along with handcrafted goods available for purchase at the Revelstoke Farm and Craft Market. We’ve also included a few non-profit groups and community organizations which will be promoting their own initiatives so if you’re feeling the love, please don’t hesitate to help out a local worthy cause or group as you meander through the area.

Downtown Revy is where it’s all at for Saturday and Sunday daytime activities so plant your feet on the street and we’ll see you there!

The essence of the Axis Mundi Festival (September 18-20, 2015) is represented in the four pillars the festival platform is built on: Community, Environment, Culture and Adventure. Falling under all four of these categories is a festival event that celebrates food. The Hundred Mile Harvest Market, planned for the Sunday of the festival, recognizes that food is an essential part of community and that regional products are a great way to reduce carbon footprint. Food is a culture onto itself and sampling new fare can make for incredible taste adventures. Drawing a 100 mile radius around Revelstoke, you find an area remarkable for the fare it produces – fruits, vegetables, cheeses, breads, meats, wines and beers, and more.   The circle is a veritable cornucopia of flavour and variety. Axis Mundi Harvest is reaching out to producers in the radius to participate in the event, creating an atmosphere where festival goers and foodies can sample, learn about and purchase products from regional producers.

The 100 Mile Harvest Market will be located at Grizzly Plaza, downtown Revelstoke and will run from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, September 20th. Workshops, demos and live entertainment will also be part of the mix.

It’s mushroom season!  Join experienced edible fungi hunters and fun guys Lee DeBruin and Doug Airey on the hunt for mushrooms on the trails around Revelstoke.

There will be two guided tours, one at 10:30 AM and one at 1:00 PM on the festival Sunday.  Each tour limited to 12 people each.  To reserve a spot contact:  office@axismundi.ca

Bon Appetit!

Electro-Acoustic Shake Down | Saturday, September 19th | 2 pm

The Last Drop – 200 3 St W, Revelstoke, BC

Buckman Coe and Adham Shaikh

Buckman Coe has been fusing lifestyle and art as he has been developing his unique coastal sound.  Yoga, organic food and communal projects are at the forefront of his daily routine. When he selected a producer for his latest recording project, he chose Adham Shaikh. Adham is a Juno Nominated electro/digital world music fusion artist and producer from the Kootenays. The Electro-Acoustic Shake Down is a jam session of 2 guys who have been playing around in the studio and laying down some pretty incredible tracks.

Trad to Rad | Sunday, September 20th | 3 pm

The Last Drop – 200 3 St W, Revelstoke, BC

Baskery and Ashley MacIsaac

An exploration of how artists weave traditional music into contemporary compositions. Ashley MacIsaac refers to the great Buddy MacMaster as one of his biggest influences and Cape Breton as the back drop to much of his music. Baskery, while coming from Sweden, draws much of their musical styling from Americana roots. Once the songs are performed, it all makes sense, but how do they get there?

Kid’s Drumming Workshops with David Thiaw

Saturday, September 19th | 11 am & 2:30 pm

Sunday, September 20th | 12 pm & 2 pm

United Church – 314 Mackenzie Ave, Revelstoke, BC

David Thiaw and Kids

David Thiaw’s drumming workshops for children focus on playing drums, but always with the ultimate objectives of developing rhythmic awareness, musicianship and artistic sense. Kids learn how to drum and use voice on choreographical sequences and/or dances. Somewhere amongst it all, David will gradually introduce information and ideas about cultures – his culture, the students’ cultures, and other cultures. The seeds are being sown for an understanding of what David calls Cultural Universals – the ways of being which bind all people.  Cultural Universals are what people do – with what they have – wherever they live – to express the needs and emotions which all people have.
